cityhall3.jpgFormer San Francisco Supervisor Bevan Dufty has been appointed to a newly created position focusing on services and better outcomes for those who are homeless or living in supportive housing.

Dufty, who ran for mayor last year after completing his second term as a supervisor in January 2011, was named today as director of Housing Opportunity, Partnerships and Engagement by Mayor Ed Lee.

"Bevan shares my commitment to making a real difference in people's lives and tackling the very real problem of homelessness in our city," Lee said.

Dufty spent five years as director of neighborhood services under Mayor Willie Brown, where he helped connect neighborhood residents and merchants with city services, and eight years on the board of supervisors.
