One more instance of wrongful profiling by the authorities -- just not as politically incorrect a form of it as racial profiling.
Think about it -- just because you have an open bottle of alcohol in your car, or a hash pipe or line of coke or whatever, doesn't mean you are driving under the influence. Are people who support this profiling too stupid to understand concepts like passenger and transporting?
Police have various sobriety tests they can administer, and they can always pull over drivers who appear to be driving recklessly. There's no reason to profile people as DUI by pulling them over just for the presence of alcohol or drugs.
One more waste of taxpayer money and police resources that could be put toward responding to apprehending real criminals instead of violating our liberties.
But of course there's more power and money in it for the authorities by operating this way, and that's why they do it. What do they care about your freedom or well-being?

Yeah….everyone knows that people who drive around with an open beer can between their legs, or a line of coke on a mirror, are not using it when they drive…even liberal knuckleheads know this. However, when there is an accident, and those same knuckleheads are running for cover and looking tor post blame, you can bet it becomes an issue for them. If you are going to comment…comment intelligently.
