Wait... what:
Some pointed out that the shooting didn't take place in Oakland, so it "didn't make any sense" for them to protest there.

Is Fruitvale BART not in Oakland?

The shooting did indeed take place in Oakland, and the reason the protests were there, if one is looking for logical reasons, is because (1) as the county seat, Oakland is the political center of Alameda County, which prosecuted the BART shooting trial and was host to all proceedings before the trial was moved to LA, (2) BART is headquartered in Oakland, which also happens to be because Oakland is the de facto political center of the Bay Area, with the Assn of Bay Area Governments based there, as well as many other regional bodies. This might not be something so easy of someone in SF or WC to readily appreciate.

Of course it was the Oakland Police that have had to deal with all this, when it was a problem with a BART cop, and we Oaklanders do feel like we didn't at all deserve all the flack.
