...wait what?

this is one of those "is it real or is it in the onion" stories...that turns out real.

if passed then Daly can't walk on sidewalks because he lies...

It's a stunt. Chris Daly is proposing the law not because he wants it to pass, but to illustrate what he believes is the absurdity of the sit/lie ban.

Chris Daly is ridiculous, and I still haven't worked out my opinion on the sit/lie ordinance, but no one is trying to ban telling lies in public. Unfortunately, this is the kind of thing that will get misreported and repeated as legend because humor doesn't translate well to legislation.

Sorry, Greg Dewar, but I'm one of the most honest people you'll ever meet.

And s5, humor does translate well into legislation. Remember when John Burton proposed making it illegal to be poor? Priceless.

Look, I'm a huge satire fan, but the city is in deep shit financially. Maybe it's time to focus on that?

You have got to be fucking kidding me.

God, I loathe it when you comment on Internet threads. It's even worse than a migration of SFGate trolls, because at least I can ignore them.

I was a vocal proponent of Sit/Lie, but I got turned around by some of your colleagues, (notably Campos & Debra Walker). But you have this unique talent to infantilize every fucking thing, even once the issue's been won. You make me regret my change of heart.

I can't wait till the moderates don't have you as an excuse anymore.

Daly hurts San Francisco.

"unique talent to infantilize every fucking thing..." is probably the best description of Daly that I have ever read. Very well put...

user-pic

What a waste of bandwidth.

Actually, this reminds me of the news editor who was trying to decide whether to cover an event that wasn't going to happen unless she covered it. No dis to the Appeal, but by covering Supervisor Daly's antics (and yes, that's mostly what they are), you pretty much lend credence to his more outlandish ideas. So does Ken Garcia.

Does anyone hear a fiddle in the background or is it just me?

user-pic

I support it as long as there is a provision that all elected politicians may only speak from a public sidewalk. Could be fun :)

Fill up the jails!
