I don't mean to nitpick, but reporting on the time of these crimes might be useful in finding the perps.

I do not disagree! When I get these reports from SFPD I call and ask for that information, sometimes they can give it to me, sometimes they can't. If they don't (like today), I'd prefer to run the story than not.
