Besides the utterly disgusting idea of keeping the placenta around, haven't people ever heard of "biohazards"? No recycling of animal feces, placentas, limbs you may choose to dismember, organs you feel are no longer useful, your hair, nail clippings, and used feminine hygeine products.

You are supposed to eat it, not compost it.
Anyway, I'm surprised it's even legal to compost it yourself. I suppose there is a line somewhere between composting your own body parts and running an unapproved underground medical waste disposal operation.
