This is awesome! A word of warning to anybody thinking of pursuing things with the DBI: you have to be really, really persistent in order to get an inspector out to your building.

In the shoes of this tenant, I'd issue a written warning first about contacting the DBI before actually contacting the DBI. JMO.

Generally, I do think it is a good idea to give the landlord an opportunity to repair. In this case, however, I think he had ample opportunity.

A mom and pop outfit might go bonkers after hearing that they've been told on, while a giant ParkMerced-type would tend to care less about it...
