I can totally identify with the indignation that no alert was given to the public, but from a "pick your battles" standpoint, (a) the 33 isn't really a commuter line (unless you are going from an all night bender on Haight to detox at SF General, or you know I guess people work there too), and the on the 9-San Bruno (headline reads "9 Bryant" FYI, confusing possibly to the light smattering of people who use the 27-Bryant) the commute direction is northbound on Potrero, not so much southbound. (It wasn't clear whether the N/B direction was also blocked?)

I don't know that I'd characterize this report as "indignation," but, as noted, this is another in a line of Muni communication failures.

And I don't know that just because a route doesn't go to, what, downtown, doesn't make it a line that people ride to and from work. People work places besides the Financial District.

who is Kristen Holland? did Judson jump the ship?

Kristin's worked there for a while. She's the go-to when Judson is on vacation, but also does a lot of other things, like send out those weekend Muni schedules, stuff like that. She's cool.

not to get too off topic...but....

you know what? they all seem nice, actually. even Fare Inspector #32 now smiles and says "whats up" to me if we see each other.

Muni needs to hire a Social Media person to update Twitter, 311, etc with all of the relevant updates. start a Flickr group for images, make mugs, t-shirts, etc. start archiving things like roller bars, Fast Passes, adverts with 3 penises on the side, etc, etc.

and you know what else? i would LOVE to be that guy. one can dream, right?

I'm jaded after 22 years on the J-line, I guess; I have learned to expect the mushroom treatment from Muni. The idea that they might actually send out alerts if a line was running behind by more than, say, 10 minutes is wonderful, but Twitter would probably melt down or something from the traffic load.

Just for giggles and grins, I take occasional glances at the daily service reports, and you know what? Absenteeism among Muni drivers is 20-25% on any given day. Maybe once since they started posting them this spring have I seen that figure dip below 19%. That is simply disgusting and an insult to anyone who actually works for a living.

The 33 was a commuter line for me -- I took it every day from the Richmond to the Mission where I worked for a little over a year. I think the other people riding it at 8am were probably going to work, too.
