Really glad to see you're on it! My aunt Rose was one of the disabled activists in California who worked hard to get these parking spaces, along with other accommodations, like the sloping curves at street corners. She's gone now but in her memory I put little message cards on windshields of suspected evildoers. Nothing too hostile as there are a lot of people who have disabilities that are not obvious. But if you sprained your ankle two years ago and are using one of the placards, get off your entitled butt and walk an extra block. You have no idea how difficult the world is to navigate for alot of people. If you see an expensive car with a placard, it's likely a scam as most people who are living on disability can't afford those wheels.
