If a journalist or writer shows up to a regular meeting of a group as a guest speaker, that's one thing but being the prime attraction at a fundraiser is a bit different, since the goal is to raise money to pay for advertising.
Usually journalists are paid speaking fees or something, and aren't used as a draw for a fundraiser. that is usually reserved for celebrities or something.
