The Stranger is a great paper. When I moved to Seattle in 1994, it was still primarily an indie paper with a heavy emphasis placed on bands, clubs, etc. But over time it evolved into a good local weekly. When the Seattle Weekly (once also a cool paper) got sold, the Weekly let a lot of people go, and quickly dissolved into a pale imitation of its old self, and the weekly in the last 10 years has become a very good local news source, much more so than it was even in the 1990s.
