The interwebs can be an awkward place. It used to be the on the internet, no one knew you're a dog, but now someone can,...

There might be more sympathy for parents in this situation if 99% of the parents on Facebook didn't already use their kids' pictures as their own profile pics. That and the Christmas cards without any adults in view have removed virtually all of my memory of what my parent friends even look like. I might not recognize my brother if we passed on the street, but I'd be able to pick his kids out of the crowd at a Giants game.

This is borderline--no actually, it is fully--offensive. Apparently the purpose of this column is to flame people under the guise of netiquette. I tried to appreciate it as snark, but it wasn't even funny so it pretty much failed on every level.

Do you require Tucks Pads or Preparation H?

I'm going to second Blooms comment. I found this response unnecessarily long and pretty obnoxious. Why are you so angry at these people??

Our entire country has become so obsessed with social networks that at times it becomes absurd. I'm not going to deny that I have a Facebook profile but I also don't post pictures of what I'm eating/staring at/buying on a daily basis like some other people I know (or am even friends with). Out of respect for the wide range of personal preference in using these types of sites, I think this persons friends shouldn't be offended by her politely asking them to at least un-tag if not remove most of the baby shots.

Why you feel the need to bash them for wanting to do this... I haven't quite figured out. My advice to you "offline mom": Just be short and sweet - tell them you're not big on blasting Facebook w. baby photos and ask them if they'd take them down and instead would share electronic copies w/ you (if you want em). If your friends take offense with that, they're the ones being ridiculous!

Agreed with blooms and sunnysunset. It was quite tl;dr but I read the whole thing, hoping for some more fun snark, but there wasn't really much to be had.

I don't really like kids, but babies are fun -- I'd be happy to take down FB pictures of a baby if a parent nicely/not obnoxiously asked me to. (Actually, more realistically I'd create a private album and put the pix of the kid in there.)

I'm just wondering what you've got against bags of sand...

I see nothing wrong with wanting your child's image off Facebook. And I have to agree with the other commenters in that this column was unnecessarily mean. Actually, I would go as far to say that more parents should control and be aware of their children's online presence.

This article was pretty awful.

I laughed, and laughed and laughed. Seriously. I'm still smiling from it to. It was funny -- maybe a wee long -- but FUNNY!
