that intersection is not a good one for traffic because bikers are following the Wiggle route (which means they turn at this intersection). Many bikers don't stop which, when you add the turning, greatly increases the chances of getting smacked.

Oh my gosh, I was hit my a car at this exact intersection 2 weeks ago! I was 2/3rds through the crosswalk, almost to the other side, when I saw this woman approach directly in front of me. I kept watching her, expecting her to stop at the stop sign, expecting it...expecting it... and then she didn't! Fortunately I was watching her and I managed to escape real harm by jumping back, but it was scary. I consider myself a savvy pedestrian, but sometimes (like in this situation), there not much you can really do. I was also NEARLY hit in the exact same place this morning. A large SUV was making a left turn and nearly plowed right into me as I was also more than halfway through. It didn't even slow down and missed me by inches. All I could do was give a death glare.
