Dollhouse suffers from a few problems, all Whedon inflicted:
-The name is stupid. A good "work in progress name" but impossible to market effectively. Want to sound like a goofball? Say "Oh I'm watching Dollhouse on Friday." Then you have to try and explain "well it's this weird show bla bla bla" while everyone laughs at you
-The original pilot was better. It made more sense, and explained things better. Last year it took 5 Fox-meddled episodes before it started to get interesting.
-Epitaph One, while entertaining and shocking and really really good, kills the show. If you haven't seen it yet, see it. It's great, but also so depressing, watching Dolllhouse now makes it hard.
-Tough to market: FOX likes easy to market shows like Fringe or the Simpsons. They still don't know how to sell this thing, but they gave it another season. They must be desperate.
Still, I'll watch it, but I wonder if it, like many other shows, really should be set up for just a set season or 3, and then be done, Tell one big story, put in some little ones, don't try and make 200000 episodes like Law and Order and have a cap so the writers can focus.
Oh and as for Flash Forward, I have 2 words as to why that show is going to die : Brannon Braga.
