I thought the article was a little cynical. I know she was trying to be funny, but I bring my dog out from Aspen to spend the summers in SF (brrrrrrr). One of my favorite parts of living in SF is getting up super early to romp with my dog off-leash @ Alta Plaza (our regular run) or "secret spots" like Baker Beach (sand ladder). the Presidio, East Beach (Chrissy Field) GG-Park. Carmelo's a "big" dog who likes to run around (a lot).
When's the last time the author has visited any of these AWESOME natural spots? All within a short distance from the hustle of THE CITY.
I know its ultra-cool to have a pug, or a "mini" aussie or some other test-tube breeds that people try to sneak into restaurants. In reality SF is a place where the "BIG DAWGs can run too. Check out Justin's site linked above-- its comprehensive.
