I was wondering if that requirement still existed. It was certainly in effect when I was in high school here. You had to pass a swimming test or show proof of passing one somewhere else. I knew how to swim since I was a wee thing, but there was no way I was going to get into a bathing suit in front of high school classmates, so I forged a card a friend had from a YMCA swim class, and got out of it that way.

I do have to admit it worries me how many of my friends kids actually DON'T know how to swim. That's kind of important, isn't it? Especially when you live in a city surrounded on three sides my water.
