Elsewhere: Hit-and-run driver caught by good Samaritan Ex, Woman waiting for bus injured at 21-Hayes stop Muni Diaries

A driver was arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run Wednesday evening in San Francisco after allegedly hitting a car and then backing into a bus shelter, injuring a pedestrian, police said.

The crash was reported at 6:43 p.m. near the intersection of Hayes and Baker streets, in the city's Panhandle neighborhood.

Police said the suspect, 34-year-old Michael Johns, rear-ended a BMW with his blue Ford truck. The BMW driver had been trying to parallel park at the time.

Johns then backed up into a bus shelter and struck a 36-year-old woman who was standing there, then drove off, according to police.

The woman was hospitalized with minor injuries.

Police found Johns, a Pittsburg resident, driving in the Richmond District about 40 minutes later and arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.

The crash is still under investigation.
