Do you remember that rather strange story of the UCSF-police officer driven Dodge Magnum that reportedly raced down 280 at speeds exceeding 100 MPH, before crashing, killing the driver, and seriously injuring the passenger? If not, catch up here and here.

The Examiner's Brent Begin wrote a follow-up on the October incident this weekend. Most significantly, Begin notes that autopsy results on the driver, 32-year-old Edson Veloro, revealed that his blood alcohol level was 0.23 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.

California Highway Patrol spokesman Shawn Chase is quoted as saying that "The combination of driving too fast and driving under the influence contributed to this tragedy occurring." Uh, yeah, you think?

His passenger at the time of the accident, 39-year-old UCSF police dispatcher, Art Dragon, continues to recover from his injuries.
