I've only driven through the S curve a small handful of times, so I speak as a sometimes-driver and not a regular auto commuter. That curve catches you by surprise. It catches me by surprise at least. Even at moderate speed the curve feels stronger than your average freeway bend. I am sure most daily drivers are comfortable with it by now, but you still have people like me who have driven the bridge 1,000 times but are yet to face that curve for the first time. It will catch them by surprise too.
